October 26, 2016

Parents,

Our class is having a blast preparing for the Kilpatrick Koala Fun Run coming up soon! Today we learned the first step to making a difference through Backyard Box Office, which was to Find a Need. You can find all over our character videos on funrun.com

Tonight’s Boosterthon challenge is to create a STUDENT STAR VIDEO. Help your students by uploading their pictures to funrun.com and sharing the link you receive in your email. ALL videos are private, unless the link is shared. Thanks for your support and generosity!

Remember, as you connect to sponsors for the Fun Run, make sure all pledges are entered on
funrun.com. The more pledges we get, the more incentives our class earns on our Pledge-O-Meter. Plus, for every $30 per lap our class pledges, three meals will be given to a local person in need through our giveback initiative, A Million Students Strong. Our students are excited to rise to the challenge and give back to our community!

Thank you for your generosity and supporting our school. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Have a great day!

OKE PTA

PS - Make sure to register your child on
funrun.com. He or she will receive a FREE GIFT just for being signed up. Use our school registration code: 232612

PTA Membership
Thank you to all our parents, grandparents, family members, faculty and community members who have joined the OKE PTA!  Every year it is our goal to have one voice for each child enrolled at OKE.  So we are looking for more to join our commYOUnity!  We have had 100% membership EVERY YEAR since OKE opened its doors 13 years ago.  Your membership does NOT mean you must volunteer, though we have a place for you if you choose.  Please download the membership form from OKEPTA.org, send it in with your kiddo, and join our commYOUnity.

We only need 25 more memberships!

Aussie Auction

Thank you to all who supported our Aussie Auction.  We could not have been successful without you.

International Night
Koalas Around the World was a huge success!  Thank you for coming out and joining us for your trip around the world and learning about interesting cultures, facts, places, languages, and traditions of the countries represented in our school. A very special thank you to our wonderful ESL team for spearheading such a wonderful event.  Thank you to everyone within our community that helped. OKE is very proud of our culturally diverse community.

Pumpkin Decorating Extravaganza 10/24-10/28/16

The Kilpatrick Library is hosting its eleventh annual BOOK CHARACTER Pumpkin Decorating Extravaganza for OKE families from October 24th-28th! You can use paint, fabric, and other craft supplies to transform an ordinary pumpkin into your favorite character from a book! Perhaps you can use a little red paint to make Clifford or some yellow yarn to make Goldilocks! We're looking for pumpkins that are created, not carved (please do not poke holes in the pumpkin as this causes the pumpkin to decay).  The pumpkin characters will be on display in the library for all to enjoy! The library is open each morning at 8:00 AM.

This event is an Extravaganza, and not a contest.  Pumpkins will not be judged, but will be enjoyed by students and parents! What a fun seasonal activity for the whole family to enjoy! We'll invite some of our students to share their creations on announcements each morning throughout the Extravaganza. Also, ALL student participants will receive a special pumpkin dog tag for their Reading Chain! Have fun and happy decorating!

Important Dates:

  • Monday, October 24th-Thursday, October 27th: Bring your pumpkin creations to the library!
  • Friday, October 28th: All pumpkins not picked up in the morning will be sent home with students at dismissal.

The entry form is being sent home in the 10/12/16 Wednesday folder.  Additional forms are available in the library or can be printed here.
