September 28, 2016

Please be proactive to help ensure the safety of our children walking or riding bicycles to school. Be reminded that our school zone is a “No Phone Zone.” Wait to text, read texts or talk until it is safe. Please respect our Crossing Guards. They have the legal authority to direct traffic. We ask for your patience while waiting in car lines to drop-off and pick-up your children. We will work very diligently to expedite arrival and dismissal in a timely fashion, but safety of the children will always come first. Please respect our teachers on duty; they are there to help. Our number one goal is to assist your children while keeping them safe.Thank you for continuing to make our campus a model for safety and support in the District.

Make up pictures are scheduled for
Thursday, October 6th.

Order forms are available in the front office.

The character trait for
October is COURAGE.
Please wear silver on
Wednesday, October 5th.

Library Volunteer Meeting
Friday, September 16, 2016 9:15 a.m.

If you signed up to be a library volunteer or if you are interested in volunteering in the library, please join us for a short meeting this Friday.
The library has a great need for volunteers. Your commitment of one hour a week on a regular basis is all that we ask. The duties would include, but are not limited to, helping students locate and choose books, checking books in and out to students, shelving books, and keeping the library organized.
Library volunteers allow Kilpatrick to keep the library open for circulation all day long.  With library volunteers we are able to offer more activities such as book clubs, author visits and award programs..
We hope to see you Friday, September 16, 2016 at 9:15 a.m.

Pedestrian Safety

Parents please help us keep our children safe. Be a good role model. Set a good example by putting your phone, headphones and devices down when walking. Make sure you are using the crosswalks at all times.
Please review the tips below with your child.
Top Tips
· Teach kids at an early age to look left, right and left again before crossing the street. Then remind them to continue looking until safely across.

· Teach kids to put phones, headphones and devices down when crossing the street. It is particularly important to reinforce this message with teenagers.

· It’s always best to walk on sidewalks or paths and cross at street corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible.

Student Arrival at OKE

Please be reminded that morning student drop off time begins at 8:00 a.m. Starting at 8:00 a.m. each day, teachers are on duty in posted locations all around the school. Students should not arrive to school prior to 8:00 a.m. without parental supervision. Please be reminded that children should not be on the playground before school begins. There is no adult supervision at this time of the day and could present a dangerous situation. Thank you for your assistance in keeping  our students safe.
